Cruelty Free vs. Vegan: What’s the difference?

  • Cruelty Free = No Animal Testing
  • Vegan = No Animal Ingredients or Byproducts

Animal byproducts like milk, lanolin, carmine, honey, and royal jelly are commonly used in cosmetics. Some of our products include carmine (red pigment derived from insects), which prevents them from being designated as vegan. Check out which of my products are:

  • Eyeshadows in the shades Kitten, Purity, Lace, and Scarlett contain Carmine.
  • Loose Glitter Pigments are Carmine free and vegan.
  • Loose Glitter are Carmine free and vegan.

Kelsey Westman is not a vegan expert, and does not claim to be. I have done much extensive research into all my ingredients and my supplies. Besides Carmine, my products are vegan, and so are my suppliers. My supplies and I are both cruelty free! Kelsey Westman Beauty has a strict policy to only source raw materials which have not been subjected to testing on any animals of any sort. I can confirm that the Octyldodecyl Stearoyl Stearate and Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride ingredients we use are both synthetic and NOT animal based.
